Tom Ray — writer and a poet — born and raised in Yonkers NY to parents Portia Ray and Thomas Ray Sr.

Tom Ray was born on April 18, 1985, and since that day has been on a road to success. He attended school in The Yonkers Public School System and graduated from Westchester Community College with a degree in Communication and Media Arts in 2007.

During his college studies, he discovered his gift of being a socially relevant poet. From that moment, he picked up a pen and has not stopped writing.

Tom is also a spoken word artist and has performed at various NYC venues, such as the Nuyorican Poetry Cafe, The Bowery, Iguana Lounge, The RedRoom, The Woodlawn Lounge, Urban Juke Joint, Mercy College, Lehman College, Bella Havana as well as other special events and venues.

In early 2012 he debuted his acting talent in The Dove Musical performed at the Triad in NYC. His most notable accomplishment blossomed in 2012 when he publish his writings in his first book of poetry entitled, The Thoughts of Ray, From My Heart To Yours.

This book is a compilation of his thoughts expressed through poetry, the writings are uplifting with a sense of love, while displaying his blessing of creativity. Each poem is socially relevant and emerges from a place in his soul. Everyone should obtain a copy of this book, especially the youth. There is a portion of the book dedicated to Young 1s.

Tom is also involved in promoting events; one of which he co-founded called The Soul Box based in Yonkers. He is employed with The Yonkers Public School System at Yonkers Montessori Academy as an educator and works part time as a Counselor with the Gateway Program at the Nepperhan Community Center.

Tom Ray has a great passion for helping our youth and giving back to his community while impacting every other community. Tom is family orientated and represents his family every where he goes with respect, honor and loyalty. He is on the road to success and God is his Advisor. He is grateful for the path his ancestors paved for him and will lead by example for the next generation to come.
